Dog behavior problems can be very frustrating and embarrassing. Even if your dog seems "bad" on the outside, you and I both know that he's very "good" on the inside. You needn't worry that I will raise a disconcerting eyebrow at his behavior and you don't have to apologize for any self-perceived deficits you think that you have as a dog owner. Believe me, I am a fellow human; been there, done that. I truly appreciate that you are choosing to make a change and are researching the best training options for you and your dog. I love dog people as much as I love dogs!

TRAINING PHILOSOPHY
I use modern applied behavioral science when training dogs and their people and adhere to the Humane Hierarchy set forth by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. I am willing to make small compromises to accommodate the personalities and lifestyles of owners. This is, after all, a TEAM effort. I artfully assess the dog, its breed-type(s) and environment and apply any or all of the following: primary reinforcer training, secondary reinforcer training, functional reward training, luring, marker-training, preventative techniques, environmental control, systematic desensitization, respondent conditioning, and coping strategies.

Together we can decide if it is best that I board and train your dog, come to your home for a series of sessions, or provide advice from afar through emails and phone calls.

I can help you to:

1) clearly define and focus on what you and your family expect from your dog.

2) identify what is rewarding for your dog so we can guide and reward him for making
    the right choices.

3) simply and effectively communicate with your dog using body language and actions that are rewarding for your dog.

4) p
revent over-aroused, aggressive, fearful, guarding behavior by recognizing your dog's  body language and by         determining what triggers the reaction.

5) set up programs that involve systematic desensitization and respondent conditioning  to reduce over-arousal and establish new behavior patterns in your dog.

6) keep your sessions stress-free with honest and clear communication between you and your dog

Your aggressive or fearful dog CAN be helped. The majority of my continuing education units are obtained through seminars and workshops focusing on identifying fearful/aggressive behavior and the many options on how to change emotional patterns.

My history in earning titles and placement ribbons in obedience, rally obedience, and hunting retriever competitions with many dogs, including those not owned by me, is testament to my ability to train to a level where a dog will listen and respond willingly and reliably in distracting environments.
